*Note: I am reviewing this item in two parts. Part 1 is after day 1 of use. Part two will be after 2 weeks of use)

Item: Sportline S12

Purchased at: Walmart (I believe this is a Walmart only item)

Price: $38.77

Functions: Clock (time/date), heart rate zone monitor, resting heart rate tracking, alarm, chronograph, timer, dual time zone clock, pedometer, workout timer, calorie counter, distance calculator, speed (mph) calculator

Part 2 [Rating: 1/5]

Well, here is part two of my review of the sportline s12 heart rate monitor.

It is with great disappointment that I share that I will be returning this device tomorrow. During the 5k I ran on Saturday, after about 1.25 miles, the watch just sorta… reset. It suddenly had a new date, new time, wiped all of my step, milage, and distance data. HALF WAY THROUGH MY RACE. I was livid.

There isn’t any particular reason to draw my review out longer, it just didn’t do what it needed to do, when I needed it to do it.

(on another note, I’m not sure it was entirely acurate as a HRM, calories burned tracker, or distance keeper. Even with specific measurements of my stride, it was occasionally -inexplicably- off.)

Sorry, sportline… I really, REALLY wanted to like it.

I agree. I bought this watch and I’ve had it for a week and I’m not impressed. I’m taking it back tomorrow.

I’ve also had this watch for about three weeks and it reset itself twice…returned it to Walmart today for a replacement, we’ll give it one more strike and it’s out for the Sportline S12.

I completely disagree. The watch works great for me and the price is spectacular. You just don’t get the same features without paying 100.00 and I have on 2 others which failed half way through a 3 mile race. This one didn’t.

I appreciate your review of this product. I have just opened mine and found it is not working properly straight from the box (perhaps someone else returned it?) There is no sound, such as the alarm and the beeping to indicate straying from targeted range. Knowing that others have had similar problems with this product will keep me from wasting my time exchanging it with a new one- I will just return it and find a different model. Thank you!

Wow, your review saved my tail. I just saw this watch at wallmart and popped up the web on my cell phone right in the isle and saw your review. The kicker is I bought a MIO Stride which is a very similar watch to this one and it did the same thing. So I took it back and got another and it does the same thing. I was going to buy this watch next but found your review first. Did you ever find a watch like this that worked correctly. If so what, I need one!
    Thanks,
    DC

i also have this watch and it did reset itself when in running mode. I now turn it on when running but will leave it in normal time mode. You can switch while running to check your stats but have to return to time mode after. I do love this watch for the price and features. I also think the distance is quite accurate if steps info is correct. I ran a few miles and then determined my step.

I received this watch for my birthday … and I love it!

is been 3 weeks and haven’t got any problem. the pulse is very accurate and the pedometer is right on the target.

this is great, super great, for the money (it was a gift anyway). I love this watch so much is always on my wrist. I will feel very frustrated if this watch starts to show the bad signs many here are expressing.

    I totally recommend this product.

I just bought this watch today. I like it so far. The steps were off when I first tried it out on the lo sensitivity so I turned it to high sensitivity and it was right on. I will be using it for my walks.

Great from all aspects and the price is exceptional.
No problems and would reccomment for the casual runner like myself.

I will be returning mine as well…All good but the pedometer just stops for no apparent reason.
