Hey guys!

Today, for breakfast, I tried something new! I am in a bit of a rush, and I can NOT remember which of my awesome blogger peeps wrote about it, but last night, I put my rolled oats into some FAGE 0% to “soak” overnight!

I topped it with honey, raspberries, and blackberries!

It was pretty darn good! It took some TIME to eat! Cause it really was so thick, but I enjoyed it. I’ll eat it again!

The super JoyRuN sent me her gently used hydration belt, and I got it in the mail today!

I love getting packages!
So cute!
A bonus!
I love it, Joy! Thank you!

It is so awesome! I can’t wait to use it! Thank you so much!

Lastly, D and I are going to Medieval Times tonight with My Friends, Jess and Joel!! I can’t wait to tell you all about it tomorrow!!
I’m all decked out in Black and White, and hope we get there early enough to root for the guy that matches my outfit! hehe!

Good morning, friends!

My peeps over at Runner’s Lounge are doing their weekly Take It and Run Thursday, but this week, in REVERSE! This pretty much just means that I ask the questions, and provide an answer. (While also hoping for more feedback in comments here.) Let’s Go!

Question 1
I’m not a runner/I’ve never run/I don’t know how to do it/I can’t run a mile/I’ve always been overweight/I don’t know anything about fitness… How do I start?

Answer:
Just do it, baby! I’ve said every one of those things before… and it really is about just DOING it. For me, I really need a super structured plan. And I needed “permission” to start small. I’m notorious for biting off more than I can chew. :) I need to know what I’m doing for my runs every day! That really helps.

Question 2
Running is really hard, and I feel weak… How do I fight feelings of inadequacy?

Answer:
You have to forgive yourself for getting into your (tubby) position, but stop making excuses for yourself. Find a support group, either of bloggers, family, friends, whatever, and tell them what you’re doing. Keep checklists, charts, graphs, or notes about what you want to do, and how far you’re progressing towards those goals.

Question 3
Okay, I’m running… and I feel like I’m going to keel over and die! What gives?

Answer:
SLOW DOWN!!!

No…. Really, Slow down.

Question 4
I’m afraid about running a race. I’m sure I’ll be the slowest one there. What should I do with that?

Answer:
Remember that in a race, it is all about you. Your time, your pace, your endurance. No one else matters, and no one else will be crossing the finishline for you. Don’t worry if a crazy speed walker passes you. :) Just do your best, and focus only on your own abilities… The pride you feel accomplishing your goal will be all your own.

What questions and/or answers do you have as a new or experienced runner/athlete?

So, I had these GREAT intentions of doing a proper foodie post today… all my food since breakfast… (which was awesome by the way – I mean, how do you go wrong with chocolate hazelnut butter waffles???)

Bfast 2/24

But then, I made a really, really bad boo boo.

Have you ever been so busy that you lose track of time?

How bout weeks? Well, my greek yogurt was calling my name today, so, I eagerly portioned some out in a little container, and topped it with some honey, ready for a yum afternoon treat.

Unfortunately, I under estimated how long it had been sitting in my fridge… by a few weeks…. a whole MONTH to be exact.

That’s right, I ate 4-honey-topped-ounces of completely bad, 1 month past expired greek yogurt.

Of course, in about 40 minutes, I was crippled with cramping, and a strong urge to barf my brains out… (which I did), but when the clammy-warm-light headed part started, I did get a bit more worried. Luckily I got home, ate some crackers and some pink stuff, and started to feel better.

Word to the wise… don’t eat bad yogurt.

In other little news, I am so surprised at how AWESOME the health/food/fitness/running community is!

Super TOM from Runner’s Lounge gave me a personalized hello on the site, and really made me feel welcome! Not to mention he (ever-so-graciously) offered to check over my running plan! THAT is community, and that’s what it is really all about. Thank you TOM! Be sure to check out their site, as well as their sweet Podcasts. (this week’s featured super awesome ChicRunner, Non Runner Nancy, Running Off at the Mind, and USJogger!)

Also, I’m REALLY digging Lara’s Blog (Thinspired) lately… I’m also using her 10k running plan as a jumping off point for my training which will be starting in a few weeks.

Who else is rocking my world lately? Ummm, Leah @ Simply fabulous has a great story, which was really inspiring!

So, I guess that’s it…

Remember to check those expiration dates, kids!! :D

Hey gang,

Daron and I had a SUPER time at Benihana! I can’t believe my baby bubby is 20. That is crazy, and it makes me feel super old. It seems like only yesterday, I was screaming to mom that he wouldn’t stop looking at me, and wondering why he hated being clothed so much. :)

I LOVE hibachi, and even more than that, I love experiences that are steeped in other cultures. Now, I don’t pretend that Benihana is a genuine Japanese experience, not entirely, anyway, but I really feel that it is important to respect the experience as much as possible.

On Saturday, we went to the Nike Outlet store in Grapevine Mills Mall, and we didn’t know it, but they were having a HALF OFF CLEARANCE sale! Now, their clearance was pretty well priced anyway, but this was 50% off the lowest marked CLEARANCE price!! Check out what I picked up!!

This GORGEOUS half zip base layer, which is my favorite color, and I LOVE $14

Two super cute hats… (one in hot pink… – I hate white balance, and one in teal!) $2.50 each!

A standard headband, a wristband with internal pocket, and a shoe wallet (all $.50!)

A pair of TEMPO shorts!! I’ve been wanting to take the plunge, and I found this pair for $12!

And a “running” skirt!! (not a tennis skirt!) I’m not totally comfortable in it yet, but I will be… $10!!!

I’m sure you understand how AWESOME it is to get new gear, and how cool it is when it really makes you feel more confident!

In other news, check out what I found at my beloved cupboard:

Ash got me thinking about Nutella the other day, and I was thinking it would be awesome to find an alternative that leaned a bit more towards the hazelnut end of the spectrum!

I think Rapunzel’s Organic Chocolate Hazelnut Butter might be the one! It is so hazelnutty, but also chocolatey! An awesome treat! I highly recommend it!

Let’s see, I’ve covered, hibachi, half priced gear, hazelnut butter, now on to honesty… hawn-esty? hehe… (I need to lay off the H theme… it isn’t that serious… ;) )

Honestly, I’ve been slacking for the past few weeks… not with my runs, but my 6 days a week has dwindled to 4. My 3 runs have been solid, but I’ve not been committed to my 3 strength/cross training days.

I obviously work best with a structured schedule, which is why the 30 day shred, and c25k worked/work for me… The problem that I have with the 30ds now, is that it is SUPER jump-y, and it really is a little much on my recovering-from-yesterday’s-run-knees. I’m stoked to get back on the “wagon” with some more Jillian moves, but I’m going to do her “1 month slim down” workout as featured in March’s SELF mag. It is a lot lower impact, but still an absolute WHIPPING! I’m ready for it!

I think throwing that back into the mix should help re-kickstart my losing, which I am looking forward to. I’ve not been gaining, but I’ve not lost consistently since I cut those workouts.

Good night!

D and I are heading to benihana tonight! I’m so excited! Pictures coming soon!
