Guest Feature: Courtney’s Life Well Lived List
Hey party people! I’m stoked to share Courtney’s LWL list with you today! Courtney and I have just been introduced, but have many mutual friends. Reading this list told me a LOT of awesome things about her, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Life Well Lived
———————————————————————–
#1- I have lived in the land of Shakespeare.
Yup, The Bard himself and I have shared the same sod. Well, maybe not the exact same, but close enough for me. From 2005 to 2006 I was an ex-patriot, living the glamorous life of a non-profit volunteer. I worked for a drug and alcohol abuse prevention organization that toured dozens of schools in the poorest neighborhoods of northeast England. It was the most rewarding and challenging experience of my life. I learned so much about the future of American adolescents from spending time in a country that, though breathtakingly beautiful, was on the verge of complete socioeconomic failure if the drug culture was not stopped. I saw stunning landmarks, drank (far too many, yet remained responsible) pints of Guinness, and discovered a shade of green in the foliage that no Yankee has ever seen. Parting (with England) was such sweet sorrow.
#2- I have shared the stage with my very best friend.
After a rather lengthy hiatus from theatre, and my tendencies to be very picky about roles, I was cast as Hero in Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ at Onstage in Bedford. I had the great pleasure of playing alongside my bestest friend, Emily Kate Hardy. It was an experience I will never forget. I consider myself very lucky to have been given the opportunity, and look forward to treading the boards once more (but not anytime soon…I’m still very picky.)
#3- I stood up for what I believed and it cost me my job.
I was raised in a conservative (yet very open and understanding) Southern Baptist home. Enough said. So when I accepted a job at a large Southern Baptist church, I did so solely to make a point: Jesus loves EVERYONE. I was tired of the pious, cold, and rather hypocritical way “the church” addressed everyone, specifically the GLBT community. So it was when a co-worker of mine (at the church) expressed to me that he was, in fact, a homosexual that I relished the opportunity of having an ally in the fight against bigotry and hate. Unfortunately he had chosen to confide in a member of the congregation (whom he thought a friend) about his sexuality it sparked a witch hunt within the office. Long story short, because I refused to divulge personal details about my friend’s life and relationships to superiors…I was fired. Well “resigned” because churches don’t fire people. They just bully them into resigning. I have never been so proud to be a human being (and a Christian) than I did that day. NO ONE bullies me or any of God’s children.
#4- I have found the kind of love they write stories about.
Nickolas Logan Jones. I can’t even begin to say all the things I feel for this man. He never ceases to challenge me spiritually, love me unconditionally, and make me laugh more than I ever have before. He is my rock, my lover, and my very best friend. Imma gonna marry that man someday (soon).

Happy Wednesday!
Today, I have a few more items for my Life Well Lived list! A LWL list is a list that you can use to keep a list of highlights of your life. I’m sure if you think about it, there are some things in your life that are completely unique, or at least very FEW people have done. THAT’s what the list is about. ![]()
So, without further adieu, let me tell you a few more of the beautiful things that make this life perfectly, and wonderfully lived.
I’ve married my best friend (on a mountain top, with two rainbows overhead, and a double sunset.)
I know, I know… “My wedding was the best EVER”, “My wedding was so perfect, I’m sure it was the most gorgeous one ever” But seriously guys… Red rock mountains in Sedona, AZ… TWO rainbows crossing over our ceremony… (cause it drizzled sweetly on the whole thing), and one purpley-red sunset, followed by the sun sinking into a bank of clouds for a totally different looking sunset-aka, 2 SUNSETS… It was seriously one in a MILLION.
I know right??
I gotta keep it real… Nothing else I can add to the list today that means more to me than that single moment in my life.
That being said, there is still some Life Well Lived joy to spread around!
Keep your eyes peeled for an afternoon Life Well Lived Round up post! ![]()

Life is for living!
Hey friends!!
I’m at that phase of summer, that keeps me pretty far from my computer and keeps me busy and laughing, running around and shopping, eating and drinking with friends, and unfortunately NOT blogging.
But that’s okay, right? Cause sometimes, life is for living… Not blogging.
That said, lemme tell you about a few awesome things,
1. I created a new pandora station that plays all the sweet R&B and hip hop songs from the 90′s. Which is awesome, Mase, Biggie, Coolio. It’s amazeballs.
2. The Life Well Lived movement is going strong!! Moire and more people are participating, and blogging on their own about their life’s highlight reel! I’m gonna post a recap of the recent participants tomorrow along with a few more of my own list.
3. I ate the biggest cheeseburger ever today. Covered in juicy deliciousness. Perfect.
4. Our patio cover is hopefully going to be constructed in the next few days!! Yay! We’ve been waiting for EVER!!!
5. Rehearsals are going amazingly. The cast is super. The show connects with our hearts, and we’re loving the work.
Life is good!
Life Well Lived List: vol. 6
Hey! It’s the first Wednesday of summer vacation!
And it’s life well lived Wednesday!
I figured I’d add a couple to my list this week! I’m having such an awesome time resting, and catching up on my sanity that it will be brief this.
I’ve totally BOMBED a performance of the Star Spangled Banner

It was senior year of high school, I think, and I was the chosen show choir performer who was supposed to sing the Anthem at a game… I think it was basket ball.
Well, as you know, the Star Spangled Banner is VERY SERIOUS business. And as a 17 year old singer, you’re pretty much required to use the song to prove how serious, patriotic, and talented you are by prolonging phrases, and channeling your inner Whitney.
Oh Mah GAWD, y’all…
I started singing, and was going SO DRAMATICALLY SLOW (cause slow=emotion, right?) that I lost my place!!
“Byyyyyyyyy the dawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwns’ earlyyyyyyyyyyyyyy liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight….
…
…
…
…
O_O
*someone nearby whispers: WHATSOPROUDLY!*
What sooooooooooo PROUUUDLYYYYYY”
BAhahaaaaa. It might be one of those things that is worse in your head. But I doubt it.
Anyway, I laughed about it later, and also learned a great lesson about singing from the heart, and not going so slowly to feign drama that you forget what you’re freaking doing.
I’ve given a cow a photoshoot
We were in the beautiful mountains of Northern Spain, and this cow just wanted to be photographed. I zoomed some, of course, but I was able to get pretty close. It was awesome.
How many people can say they gave a diva cow a photoshoot!?
Next week, I’m excited to bring you another guest feature! Keep it coming, and please follow Life Well Lived on Twitter!
