What a beautiful glow!
A few weeks ago, I got the amazing news from Caitlin at healthy tipping point, that my submission to her Operation Beautiful site had been selected for use in the book!
Caitlin, one of my favorite healthy living bloggers, started a movement earlier this year with the founding of her site Operation Beautiful.com. Operation Beautiful has a simple premise. Women can be hard on themselves, and hard on other women as well. In an effort to cultivate a culture of positive self esteem and self talk, Caitlin posted a note.

In a public place, she left a note for another woman to find, and told her that she was beautiful. A small gesture, but one that allows women to build each other up, and not tear one another down. When she was got word about Operation Beautiful being picked up for a book, she asked the blogging community to submit for consideration in the volume.
I am so excited to have been selected and I was even more excited to find that I was also selected by Caitlin as one of the 19 prize winners too! I can not WAIT for the book to come out, and for you my readers and friends to see my submission!
The other part of this entry, is about the great PRIZE that I won, for my submission! As lucky winner #6 I won a Variety Pack of Glo Bars from Angela at Glo Bakery!!
Angela sent me a box containing 11 Glo Bars! It contained:
- 6 Refresh Bars (Chocolate Peppermint)
- 2 Classic (Chunky Peanut Butter)
- 1 Revive (Dark Chocolate Chunky Peanut Butter)
- 1 Chi (Chia Seed)
- 1 Renew (Hemp and Chia)
Review:
Opening the Glo Bar, I was thrilled, because I love the quick and convenient package as much as the next girl! At first bite, I loved that it was softer than the Lunas that I usually eat. The texture was chewy, and chunky, but somehow smooth. The bars aren’t overly sweet, which I really love. I can say that at first, I wasn’t sure about the flavor, but as soon as it was off my tongue, I wanted another bite, and another, and I swear the flavor and taste gets better with every single bite.
You can taste the love that Angela bakes in these bars, and you can also taste the lack of chemically ickiness that is in lots of store bought bars. Incidentally, I didn’t even notice some of the chemical flavors in my other bars, until I tasted these vegan darlings.
I’ve gotten hooked on the Refresh bars (and I’m glad I got mostly those!) but I’ve also enjoyed the Classic and Revive. I had been looking forward to trying one of the more fruity bars, but I’m not complaining. What I received have been totally delish. Now my only worry is how much I’m going to want to keep these babies on hand.
Thanks so much to both Caitlin and Angela!
when it’s raining…
Man, it has been GLOOMY for many of the last several days! Lots of rain, lots of clouds, lots of BLAH.
I started today with something new, and completely AWESOME.
Liberte 6 grain yogurt.
This is a milk based yogurt from canada that also contains 6 whole grains… if you know me, you know that I have long been in love with my yogurt-oats, and raw oats in my yogurt is one of my favorite things of all time. So today, I had the raspberry flavor, and I have to say… that with no compensation from liberte, this is one of the very best yogurts I have EVER had. The grains are chewy, and provide such a great texture. They are plump, and not crumbs, but are full flavored chunks of grainy goodness. The yogurt itself is not overly sweet, and is not to thick… (sometimes the texture of greek yogurt is too much for me) all in all, with stats like these:
I really like it and I will DEFINITELY buy it again.
My full breakfast consisted of the liberte yogurt, some grapes, and a home brewed coffee from my spanish stash. (love you, lola!) I’ve been sweetening my coffee with a little agave instead of sugar lately, and I have to say that I don’t miss the white stuff a bit…
I had an awesome lunch today, including a turkey, escarole (aka endive), and deli mustard sandwhich which was freaking perfect. So perfect, in fact that it was well in my belly before I managed to take a photograph of it.
Escarole or Endive was on sale at the grocery store, and was exceptionally fluffy and beautiful… I couldn’t say no.
My snacks for the rest of the day ROCKED, including 10 candy corns, a babybell cheddar, and a piece of this glorious concoction:
You’re reading that right. Peanut Butter and GINGER.
Think about your favorite flavors from a perfectly prepared thai peanut sauce. This candy is sweet, but not too sweet, strong, but not too strong, and savory… but not in a way that invades the sweetness. A PERFECT sweet for this ginger girl, and long time Reed’s Ginger products lover.
I’m totally hitting the sack now, because I am EXHAUSTED… sleep well!!

You’ve seen them peeking at you from the shelf… I know you have.
Seriously, just do it. They’re freaking good. That voice in the back of your head saying, “aww, man, they’re probably gross, I shouldn’t risk it, yea, they definately must suck” IS WRONG.
Just give in, dude, just give in.
Review: Crumpler 4 Million Dollar Home
Product: Crumpler 4 Million Dollar Home
Website: Crumpler Usa (pictures at site)
Purchased at:Circuit City
MSRP: $58.50 I Paid: $24.98
Pros: Great size, doesn’t look like a camera bag, well made, well padded.
Cons: Pockets can be difficult to access, no shoulder strap.
[rating:4/5]
This bag was a great find, particularly because for whatever reason, it was half price at circuit city. It is made of a very strong canvas like material, and is extremely well padded. It has one main pocket wtih a little velcro divider that can be positioned wherever you like, a small flat mesh pocket on the back of the flap, a pocket at the front which I found to be a bit tight, particularly becuse there is another mesh pocket inside it. That little mesh pocket is sealed with the strongest velcro I’ve ever felt in my life, and without a ton of room to move around, it is a bit snug. There are also two “secret” pockets at the side which are a great size for cables. I am able to carry my canon 400d, my 55mm1.8 lens, card reader with it’s usb cable, the camera’s neck strap, video cable, usb cable, battery and charger, and all my lens covers with plenty of room left to drop my cell, ipod, and blistex in as well.
