Happy New (School) Year!
Fancy seeing you here!
The start of the school year always feels like the true “New Year” for me.
There’s something so perfect about the start of fall. The pure bliss that we feel (here in Texas) when the weather finally starts to cool down, and the excitement that the kids carry with them through the hallways at work make me feel happy.
I start to dream about adding pumpkins to my decor, and even let my mind wander to the winter holidays that absolutely fill my heart with joy.
Autumn is the ultimate beginning, because Summer is the ultimate crecendo. This summer was absolutely amazing. I spent the whole time working on a project I loved with my whole heart, making friends I’ll have FOREVER. (RENT is definitely going to have its own blog post in the next few days.)
Summer is so vibrant and exciting – when you have it off… I know it makes non-teachers want to punch me, but it really is awesome. Summer is HEAT and tanktops, ice cubes, and fireworks… It is the epic drum fill and wailing guitar solo at the end of a rock song.
Autumn is the silence that follows, the quiet space when the world around us begins to get weary and prepares for rest. Restoration.
I’m still definitely in the heat of summer, where I live, and I know I have some weeks to go until it’s actually tolerable outside, but the start of school… it’s the first step.
I almost deleted my blog this summer… for good… but that’s just part of the haste and chaos of summer, isn’t it?
Now that things are normalizing and I’m entering the part of the year that I feel like myself again, I’m looking forward to seeing if this little webspace still has some lessons left to teach me.

kelseytoney.com’s new fall outfit…
After blogging earlier about feeling STALE on this old blog, I got to work, cracked open photoshop, and whipped up some new digs for this webspace.
Consider it my blog’s pair of adorable winter boots.
YUM.
Please let me know what you think? I’d love to know…
Also, I’m a notoriously bad speller, and includer of unnecessary pauses… via ellipses… and sometimes, commas…
HA!
Please, I promise not to get janky if you point out some error, I’d be grateful.
GReader friends, here’s a little taste:
Hey friends! It’s been a little while, I know. My interest in blogging about my own life experiences has been waning lately, but, I know that I usually end up feeling happy once I’ve opened up.
I hope you’ve all been well! I’ve had a busy few months of life!
I started another school year this August, beginning my 5th year of teaching. This will be my third year in middle school, which is hard to believe… The kids are fun, and very exciting, though, which keeps me on my toes.
I was recently a part of a great production, Funny Girl, at Music Theatre of Denton, wherein I played a snotty showgirl, who managed to tap dance without falling down even ONE TIME!
YAY!
Here are a couple of photos Lynn Michelle took of the production! That’s me in the red hat!
And this is me being snotty in a fur coat! (ewwwww!)
I’m very grateful for the wonderful experience with great friends… I don’t think I’ll be working on another show for a good while though.
Also, for what it’s worth, I don’t want to do shows during August and September in the future, if at ALL avoidable… Cause seriously, balancing life, plus a show DURING the beginning of the school year is just crazy.
Anyway, I’m LOVING the whispers of Fall weather that we’ve been having around these parts, and I have a feeling that my mother/daughter trip to NYC with my mom this week will seal the fall feelings! Nothing makes me think FALL like crisp NYC weather! I’m so excited!

We’re going to be seeing American Idiot and Promises, Promises

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

Anyway, I just wanted to check in and give my love to whomever may be reading.
xo
Pumpkin love!
I have to admit, I am LOVING fall.
I am loving all of the decorations, and I’ve even made some of my own!
Inspired by these which I read about in google reader via here, I made these little gems!
I’ll post another picture when they’re all lit up! But they are soooooooooo cute! The paper really adds to the pumpkin design, and they glow beautifully.
Please notice that my jack-o-lanterns do not have bad teeth…. I think I’ve made my point on that matter… haha.
In other pumpkin news, I found THIS shampoo and conditioner in the clearance bin at the grocery store for half off!! It smells soooooo good! I love lathering up with it, because it makes me smell like pie. mmmmmmm…. me pie.
I won’t lie. I also could not resist buying a can of pumpkin and making my less-guilt-filled pumpkin dip… The guilty kind has cream cheese in it, and really is freaking good. This time, I just added molases, spices, and some vanilla. While I have to admit, I make a damn fine gingerbread cookie, I just went with some store bought gingersnaps, and dug in. YUM.
And then, of course, is my constant quest for the best pumpkin beer. Let me tell ya… I had the most awesome pumpkin beer once, years ago, and since then, my searching has been fruitless. The Jack’s pumpkin spice ale was lame, unfortunately. However, the Buffalo Bill’s pumpkin ale is pretty dang good. Yummmmmmy.
Last but not least, when I wake in the morning, it will be my 26th birthday… wow. don’t know what to do with that information actually…
rocktober update: I essentially took a week off due to my bronchitis, so, I will tack another week onto the end of the month.
