productivity

May 5, 2009

Today I…

  • cleaned out Dala’s cage
  • scrubbed spots on the carpet from that night we had a dog
  • vaccumed all of the high traffic living areas
  • vaccumed the stairs by hand with the little want attachment
  • scrubbed my bathroom
  • scrubbed the guest bathroom
  • washed, dried, and hung a load of laundry
  • loaded and emptied the dishwasher
  • rearranged the dvds into alphabetical order (they were already in alpha order, but arranged by genre. I did away with the genre breakdown)
  • polished the wooden dining room table and chairs
  • dusted the dusty places
  • swept the kitchen
  • mopped the kitchen
  • picked up random trash from everywhere
  • scooped the cat litter
  • planted 2 bushes and 18 little flowers
  • added mulch to the flower bed
  • ran 2.55 miles
  • made tacos in celebration of CINCO DE MAYO!

I’m feeling pretty productive. I’m also feeling a little tired.

And now, instead of chilling, I’m going to start working on one of the 2 final assignments in this semester of grad school! YAY!

What did you get done today? ;)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

February 14, 2009

I hope you all had GREAT Valentine’s days…

My valentine was super sweet, as always, and made me something creative and wonderful.

In the spirit of V-day, I thought I’d elaborate a bit on how I met my hubby, as some of you asked about that story after my interview last week.

I was auditioning musicians for my live band, and needed a lead guitar player. My current bandmates knew of Daron, and so they arranged for the 4 of us to meet. When he arrived, I walked right over to him, and greeted him with a big hug. From what we’ve been told (by the other 2) we just started talking, and next thing we knew, the other two eventually tired of us talking only to each other and left.

I don’t claim that I fell in love at first sight, but I do admit that I knew, right away, that he would be a very important person in my life… maybe a best friend, maybe more… but I knew that we were connected.

Some time passed, and phase two of the “audition process” was underway. We met up with Daron at a rehearsal space, so that he could play for us. I asked him to jam with us, and when it came time for the break, to solo as he saw fit.

When he played that first guitar solo, he brought me to tears. He was so expressive, and the music he made was so beautiful… I was blown away.

A little more time passed, all the while, D and the band and me were still practicing and performing… he quickly became one of my very best friends… We were friends for some time after that, and one day… it was just more.

That is how I know he’s my lobster… loving him was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. There wasn’t any forcing it, fighting it… battling for attention, or honesty… it just was.

So, that’s my darling boy… he’s the best!
(Shameless husband plug- Incidentally, he uploaded his first album, Life in a Paper Bag, for free streaming/downloading today! Here it is: http://www.daronmacke.com/?page_id=4)

Blogging/Interwebs Public Service Announcement

Have you wondered how sometimes, in the comment area of people’s blogs, they have a spot for a picture, but yours is always blank? Have you ever asked?
-How do I get an avatar to show up when I post a comment on someone’s blog? or
-Why doesn’t my avatar show up on the comments area of that site, I have a blogger avatar? (or something like that)

I’ve been way more active in the blog-o-sphere, and was wondering that myself… well, I finally figured it out!

You need to get a GRAVATAR!!! That stands for Globally Recognized Avatar!

All you do is sign up, and tell it all the email addresses you use when you post comments (it doesn’t publish that information, and you can even assign different gravatars for each address if you want)

Anyway, now my cute picture lola made will show up by my comments.

So, if you want those ugly little blue men on my site to be replaced by your cuteness, get a gravatar.

Tomorrow, I’m talking about the FFFK and other things. Good night!

My Anti-Resolution

January 4, 2009

Welcome to the new year!!

I’ve put off writing this entry, because I did not make any resolutions this year. I made Anti-Resolutions. :)

Anti-Resolutions, as I’m defining them, are not tied to a magical date, are not fads, are not triggered by the pressures of society and popular culture, but are commitments. (Let me disclaim and say that resolutions are highly effective for some people, and I wish every resolutioner great success in achieving their goals) For me, this commitment began in November when I started (and completed) the 30 day shred. The commitments I’ve made about my 2009 experience are not restricted to the coming 12 months, but are part of a CHANGE I’m making in my life.

In light of this information, I present, my 2009 Anti-Resolutions. :D

1. I will not worry about how much I weigh.

How much I weigh is not important. Being healthy is important. I want to live a long and active life, and in order to do that, I need to be more active and eat right.

2. I will not forgo a balanced diet.

I am not 16 years old and I can not eat everything I want. I will put good food in my mouth, and I will make choices about what I eat and drink, ensuring that I enjoy the fruits of life, but take everything in moderation.

3. I will not stand still.

I will run my first 5k in 2009. I’ve started the couch to 5k program (hereafter referred to as c25k)  and am on my 2nd week. My body, endurance, and stamina are already improving! I’m excited about this one.

4. I will not be quiet.

I pay for this blog. Instead of using a blogspot blog, I have my own domain and my own hosted blog, and I will not waste my money! :) I will blog more often than I did for most of 2008. More than just blogging, I will WRITE… so often I just fill up space. While that works sometimes, I should be more confident in saying things that I believe should be said.

5. I will not waste my brainpower!

I have 2 semesters left in grad school. I’ve managed straight 4.0, and if I focus, I can finish with one. Also, I want to keep reading. I love reading, and do more than most people, but I’ve got a pretty long to-be-read list, and I want to read a minimum of 25 books in 2009.

I will have a Masters Degree in 2009!

6. I will not take my fellow humans for granted.

From my beautiful husband, to my family, to my friends old and new, I want to make sure that the people in my life (even those with whom I’m only an acquaintance) know how valuable they are to me. I don’t want to miss out on chances to tell people that they are precious, and I am glad to have them in my life.

I hope that the promises you’ve made for your life bring you more joy and contentment in 2009, and I hope that the effects of your efforts last much longer than 12 months.

Happy New Year. :D

Zzzzzzzzzzzz…

December 28, 2008

A game… Holiday Play By Play.

I’m going to attempt to recap my holidays in short sentences spanning about 2-8 hours each! Enjoy!! :D
_______________________________________
We left wednesday afternoon, and roadtripped to Arkansas to see Daron’s fam. (6 hour car ride. Boo.)

On the way we stopped at McDonald’s to get a bite right before they closed…

I sat directly behind Santa and Mrs. Claus… (seriously, I was all nervous and giddy, it was them)

Then, we got to Fayetteville and slept.

Christmas morning, we made cranberry muffins (pretty good) and went to his sister’s for christmas celebration.

Unwrapping commenced/we ate/we laid on the couch/we ate/we talked/we watched a movie.

Friday, we made cherry cordial cookies.

Saturday we left for Mt. Pleasant, where my dad lives- in East Texas. (5 hour drive…meh)

Late afternoon, we arrived.

Merriment, sandwiches, pass the ace, loud little brother, cookie sheets, driving home(2 hour drive, yay).

Got home last night, loved on the cats (who may eventually forgive us) and slept like bricks.
