Time Warp!

March 1, 2011

Whoa! Almost a whole month!? My bad.

It isn’t me, it’s you.

I kid. Anyway, I’m doing GOOD. I’m happy, and that’s nice. :)

Lemme tell you about some of the things going on in mah world. Hmmm…

Well, Daron and I have been watching the original Star Trek movies, which is GANGSTER. I love scifi… bad scifi is even better. Not that Star Trek is bad, mind you, it’s pretty awesome. Wrath of Khan was AMAZING, and definitely in my top 7 sci fi movies of all time. (I need to make that list official at some point.)

So, yea, Leonard Nimoy is like my favorite person EVER, now

… except for Daron (who isn’t a Vulcan, which totally counts against him… actually, maybe he is a Vulcan)

What else… There is a DFW area theatre awards organization called The Column Awards, and their big GALA (The theme is the ROCKY HORROR COLUMN AWARDS) is just a few weeks away. I was cast as Magenta in the opening number!

This is awesome for several reasons…

1. I was JONESING for a little stage action. A little singing, a little dancing, a little crazy makeup… That’s what I’m talking about.

2. I’m gonna get to perform in front of lots of my friends, and lots of people I don’t know yet, but would like to! So that’s awesome too.

3. The time commitment was relatively small, compared to a full scale production, which is probably a blessing.

Last but not least, being NOT cast in a (different) show recently, has made me really want to be sure that I’m not using a POTENTIAL rehearsal schedule to slack off from working out. So, I’m grateful for the clarity of mind that came from not being cast. It got me off my butt and into my running shoes for the first time in MONTHS! remember this girl??

Yea, me too.

I’m gonna go find her. :)

Email or comment or send me a carrier pigeon! I miss you guys! :D

where to pick up?

November 22, 2009

Well, its been a while since I’ve made a proper blog! Sorry about that!

I’ve been very busy at work, (the fruit party was pretty great, by the way :) ) and I just haven’t had the mood to write. :-/

Oh well, I must push through! haha…

I had a pretty un eventful week except for seeing New Moon on Friday Night (and Saturday afternoon). I really enjoyed it, but obviously, it is because of my love of the story, and doesn’t have a ton to do with the quality of the writing, acting, or film making.

That doesn’t mean that I don’t like the writing, acting, or film making, but I acknowledge, as any sane fan girl should, that its about the combination of all those things, and the excitement of being excited… ya know?

The best part of seeing it, was being with some great friends… My girls know how to have a fun time, for sure, and I love them dearly. :D

Anyway, I’ve had some absolutely AMAZING products come my way, and I am looking forward to giving them the proper attention that they deserve. :D

Sorry for the cop-out post, but I just haven’t got too much more to say! So, I’m gonna call it a post, and close it up. Talk to you soon. :D

Check out this amazing trailer for a movie that is absolutely not real…

Stories…

November 22, 2008

(13/30)

I’ll get the boring stuff out of the way. :D I’ve lost just about 7 lbs. in 13 days. That’s pretty sweet. :D Today, I really, really didn’t want to workout, but in the end I did. I’m surprised at how hard level 2 is. It makes me realize how EASY level 1 must have been, and also highlights pieces of level 1 that I probably didn’t “give my all” to complete- simply because the move didn’t require me to. So, anyway, workouts are going well. :D

Now onto my thoughts for tonight.

Stories…
I. Love. Stories.

Not only do I love books, but I love, love, love sagas. Not only book stories though. I also get into TV shows that have big story arcs too. I’m like an old lady watching soap operas… watching/reading my stories. Aside from my random obsession with Days of Our Lives during the summer after 7th grade, and the equally random compulsive watching-of-every-dawson’s-creek-episode shenanigans that happened during my first summer off as a teacher, I can’t say that I like soaps. But I do love a good, long, multi-chaptered, or even better–multi volumed story.

I saw twilight again tonight, and I just loved it. I loved it because I love the story. While I do think that the movie was good, and I probably would have enjoyed it in its own right, I know that a big part of why I love it is because it is a piece of a big picture.

I love when Daron asks me questions about a Harry Potter movie, because there is a tiny plot hole… and I love that it usually ends up taking me 15 minutes to explain that tiny little spot, because these creators have generated such a rich and cohesive world for me to live in for a while…

Stories have become a huge passion of mine in my early 20s and it is one of my greatest sources of peace and relaxation.

Here are some of the stories I currently love:

Books

Harry Potter (Series)

Twilight (Series)

Cirque Du Freak (Series)

Marked (Series)

Dead until Dark (Series)

Television/Film

Harry Potter (Movie Series)

Twilight (Movie)

True Blood (Television Series)

The Big Bang Theory (Television Series)

Star Wars (Movie Series)

The Office (Television Series)

Grey’s Anatomy (Television Series)

Bridge to Terabithia…

November 13, 2008

(4/30)

Well, last week, my students earned a movie day, and so, we watched Bridge to Terabithia. I was called out of the classroom about 3 times, including the last hour of the movie, so needless to say, I missed the important parts.

After wiki-ing, I read about how the novel was highly acclaimed, and even a newberry award winner. So, after little deliberation, I decided to read it. It is only 180 something pages, and a pretty easy read. I finished it today, and I started it Tuesday.

It is a beautiful, and touching story. Without spoiling you (even though the book is over 30 years old), I can say that it is about how people come into our lives and improve us… sometimes they even change the fabric of who we are.

I have so many people in my life who have impacted me in significant ways. As I go through my day, it can be easy to forget that the person I am, was–and is– still being fashioned by my interactions with those around me.

Take a moment today and thank someone who’s made you who you are… they deserve to hear it. :)

k

PS.
Shredding was TOTALLY hard again today. Serves me right. ;)
