Getting to my head…

December 22, 2008

Well, you know you’re on winter vacation when you can’t seem to remember what day it is.

I am in that place. :D

I swore all day that it was sunday! How great is that!?  (Teachers, you’ve got my back on this, right??)

Anyway, I’m so very glad that I’m on break… I can hardly stand it. I’ve been markedly absent from my blog since the end of my 30 days of change… and honestly… I’ve been debating starting up again. By that I mean committing to another 30 days.

It isn’t that I’ve “fallen off the bandwagon”, because I’ve still been more active in the past few weeks than the years before starting the shred, but the pressure… well, it might have been a part of why it was so effective.

To be fair, I don’t want to committ– well not until the end of the holiday week, because I’m not sure that the pressure applied to myself was entirely healthy.

Speaking of health, I’ve had a pretty intense headache for almost 2 weeks. I’ve had a little sensitivity to light once or twice, but for the most part, my head just aches excrutiatingly behind one or the other of my eyes. Another troubling thought is that my grinding/jaw clenching is getting worse (I fear). I find myself with my jaw clenched almost a dozen times a day. I’ve been trying a few techniques, but it is a really hard habit to break. And all the training in the world, won’t fix all the clenching and grinding that I do in my sleep. I’ve worn deep gashes in the custom mouth guard from my dentist, and I wake with aching jaw muscles almost daily.

This isn’t turning into the peppy-happy-for-winter-break-blog-post I thought it would be, but its what I’m experiencing, so… there’s that. :)

Oh yea, I’m counting…

Oh yea. I'm counting. :)

oh, hi there…

September 28, 2008

well, I’ve failed again. :)

I always have the greatest of intentions, but It can be REALLY hard to remember/find time to blog when you’re feeling busy, swamped, sleepy, or stressed.

I’ve not been feeling all of those things at once, but I’ve certainly touched on each of them in the past few weeks.

(if you’re not a google reader, you can now subscribe to my site via email! Just enter your information in my sidebar, and get my updates…if/when they happen ;) right in your inbox!)

Work has been wonderful. I have a great job, at a great school, with amazing people. Thinking about how tough my job can be, while keeping in mind how much better it is with an awesome team makes me feel pretty darn grateful.

So, a grad school first: I submitted a paper to a call for proposals… the international association of special education (www.iase.org) has its biannual conference, and this year, it is in Alicante, Spain! I don’t know if I’ll be selected to present… and it seems pretty bold to hope, but if I do, then I’ll have to start the process of trying to pay for a big TRIP!! I’d get to see my lola, which would be AMAZING!!!! But It’d be hard to focus on the excitement of the conference, and on seeing my darling lolita…. I don’t even know what I’d do if I could see her sweet face in person!! :D

So, I’ll keep you posted on that. :)

So… I know it’s quite late, but here are some pictures from our Sedona vacation

P.S. We just had our 3rd wedding anniversary… man, time really flies when you’re married to the most amazing man alive. :)

Home, safe and sound…
